On May 8, Orko’s Restaurant and Lounge, City Centre 1, hosted a culinary experience honouring 10 special women chosen from across the city this Mother’s Day. Selected for their signature dishes, these women have shaped their families through food.
Every dish begins with Maa: Orko’s Restaurant and Lounge invited nominations to share stories of mothers whose cooking characterises their meals. Something that sets them apart from other homes. The team at Orko’s Restaurant and Lounge, City Centre 1 have curated a Mother’s Table Menu, which will be available for both lunch and dinner on 10th May, after which it will be available for two full months. It will also be available at Regenta Orko’s Hotel at Kasba.
Each dish will be accompanied by a story card with a few lines of the mother behind the recipe, why she chose it and the tradition it holds. Visitors won’t be just eating food, but rather sitting down to experience someone’s most treasured memories.
“Every chef has an untold story to tell. For most of us, that story begins in our mother’s kitchen. At Orko’s, this Mother’s Day, we wanted to do something that goes beyond flowers and wishes. We wanted to give these women a platform that they always deserved. These 10 Mothers have been cooking with emotion and feeling for decades. We are honoured to bring those delectable recipes and share their stories with the people of Kolkata,” added Kaushik Sengupta, Corporate General Manager, Orko’s Restaurant and Lounge.
The 10 featured mothers were felicitated from the restaurant, and guests will get an opportunity to meet the women behind every dish. There will also be a dedicated photo booth, My Mother, My Hero, for everyone present to celebrate the occasion.
