Sourabh J. Sarkar appointed as WB State President of Bharatiya Krishak Samaj

Bharatiya Krishak Samaj has appointed Mahacharya Sourabh J. Sarkar as State President West Bengal of Bharatiya Krishak Samaj. The appointment letter was formally handed over in New Delhi on 30 June 2026 by Shri Krishan Bir Chaudhary, National President of Bharatiya Krishak Samaj, in the presence of BKS representatives of other states.

The appointment marks a new phase for the organisation’s work in West Bengal, with a focus on farmers’ income growth, natural agriculture, technology empowerment, improved market linkage, seed sovereignty, farmer dignity, and stronger rural institutions.

BKS representatives congratulated Mahacharya Ji and expressed confidence that under his leadership, the West Bengal unit will become stronger and more effective in serving cultivators, sharecroppers, farm workers, and rural entrepreneurs across the state.

The West Bengal wing of BKS is being shaped as a farmer-centred platform that listens carefully, organises patiently, and supports cultivators in moving toward resilient, profitable, and ecologically balanced agriculture. Its priorities include training and field seminars, natural and chemical-conscious farming, organic and indigenous inputs, value addition, farmer entrepreneurship, policy feedback, and the active inclusion of youth and women in agriculture.

As part of its next organisational steps, BKS West Bengal plans to hold a ceremonial programme in Kolkata, establish state, divisional, and district-level units, and invite leaders from other states under the guidance of Shri Krishan Bir Chaudhary. The state unit is also gearing up to deploy artificial intelligence as a practical support tool for farmers, including local-language advisory, training at scale, market intelligence, and structured farmer feedback systems.

Bharatiya Krishak Samaj stands for the Indian farmer’s right to dignity, fair policy, self-reliance, and practical knowledge that improves income without weakening soil, seed, or community life,” the organisation said.
