CM Mamata Banerjee to Inaugurate 48th International Kolkata Book Fair 2025 Today

The 48th International Kolkata Book Fair 2025 at Boimela Prangan to be inaugurated today at 4pm by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee along with Dr. Phillip Ackermann, H.E. Ambassador of Germany in India, Dr. Marla Stuckenberg, Regional Director, Goethe Institut, South Asia, Shri Abul Bashar and Ministers of Government of West Bengal and other dignitaries.

On 27th January the following details on this year’s book fair were shared by Publishers and Bookselkers Guild in press meet held at Boimela Prangan press corner. Guild President Mr. Tridib Kr Chatterjee and Mr. Sudhangshu Sekhar Dey, Hony. General Secretary were jointly addressed the press meet.

Shri Abul Bashar will be conferred GUILD LIFETIME LITERARY AWARD worth Rs 2,00,000/- in the inaugural ceremony by Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt Mamata Banerjee.

This year’s book fair records Highest number of participation of book publishers and little magazines around 1000.(Big, medium, small, and Little Magazines).

Germany, USA, UK, France, Russia, Nepal, Spain, Peru, Argentina, Guatemala, Costa Rica and other Latin American countries will participate in the foreign complex ofvthe book fair. All major National and Multinational publishing houses also will be attending the book fair.

Major gates are named as Salil Chowdhury Ritwik Ghatak Gate, Goethe Gate, Max Mueller Gate, Hackeschen Höfe Gate, Brandenburg Gate, Biswa Bangla Gate and Jibananda Nazrul Gate.

Roads are named after eminent German literary personalities like Rainer Maria Rilke, Bertolt Brecht, Franz Kafka, Herta Muller, Thomas Mann and others along with eminent personalities and litterateurs of our country.

For the first time, Book Fair will have special Mascot, ducks named Haso & Hasi, is ready to greet all the visitors of the Book Fair.

As a commitment to the society, Guild has taken an initiative to disseminate the book buying opportunity to more and more book lovers. The daily lottery will be organised every day of the fair. 15 lucky winners will win Book Gift Coupons worth Rs.1000/-.

International Kolkata Book Fair’s android app will help book lovers to locate any stall in the fair using Google location. The app is now available in the playstore. The app and the ground map with the participant list of the IKBF 2025 will be available just by scanning QR Code which will be placed at different points of the Book Fair.
