The Eastern India Motoring Group (EIMG), a group of vintage and classic vehicle owners, organized a vintage car show at Club De Golf in Kolkata on 26 November. The president of EIMG Shrivardhan Kanoria is a collector and restorer of such vehicles from Kolkata, having close to 35 cars, and the winner at various International Concours events such as ‘Cartier Travel with Style’ and ’21 Gun Salute Concours’. He is also the Vice President East of the MG India Classic Car Club. He has curated many vintage and classic car events in Kolkata in the past 2–3 years, and in 2020, he formed the ‘EASTERN INDIA MOTORING GROUP’ (EIMG). EIMG curates 4-5 events in a year in the form of shows, drives, and meets pertaining to such heritage vehicles, wherein the owners get to meet each other, boosting their common passion. Shrivardhan Kanoria’s Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost between 1926 and 1931 Shrivardhan Kanoria of Chevrolet Big 6 in 1938 and Avik Naha of Rolls-Royce 25/30 in 1932 Ford V8 in 1947 Rajiv Ghosh These classic automobiles were displayed during the event, including the Chevrolet Fleetmaster driven by Rajiv Ghosh on its own.
Mr. Debashis Sen, Chief Advisor, New Town Sarbojanin, MD HIDCO, and Chairman NKDA/NDITA; Mr. Urmila Sen, Professor and President, New Town Sarbojanin; Mrs. Akanksha Pandey, Owner of Club de Golf; and Mrs. Paromita Ghosh, Director of Candid Communication, were the eminent guests who were present at the event.
With a 7.3-liter engine, the top-of-the-line vintage Rolls-Royce model is the Silver Ghost. This specific model was manufactured in 1926, making it the oldest automobile in the exhibition. It is even more unusual because it was constructed at the Springfield plant in America. Their catalog design was dubbed the “Tilbury Sedan” and carried the hallmark of “Rolls-Royce Custom Coachwork.” Owned by EIMG President Shrivardhan Kanoria.
The other two Rolls-Royces are on display, one belonging to Mr. Naha and the other to the Karnani family 1938 for both. Afzal Hossain’s 1923 Panther Slopper is the oldest two-wheeler on display. There will also be additional two-wheelers. Exotic antique and historic automobiles as well as Italian Fiats, a division of the “Fiat Users Club Calcutta (FUCC),” a division of EIMG, will be on display, among other things.
The Club de Golf in Kolkata is a renowned golfing establishment with a challenging 9 hole course, attracting both seasoned and beginner golfers. Right now one of the most picturesque and charming cafe right across the golf course who serves Continental, oriental & low alcoholic beverages.It also features a clubhouse, pro shop, and training facilities, with professional instructors available. The club has hosted numerous tournaments, fostering a sense of community among golf enthusiasts. The café is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. This is located at Eco Park’s Gate no 6.
