Indira IVF Opens New Centre at Howrah on its 5th Anniversary

Indira IVF, India’s largest network of infertility treatment hospitals, reported a significant rise in the number of infertility cases in West Bengal. The company noted a 10% spike in year-on-year patients in the region. The findings were shared during the fifth-year anniversary and inauguration ceremony of Indira IVF’s Howrah centre, which was inaugurated by Shri. Arup Roy, Minister in Charge of the Food Processing Industries and Horticulture Department, Government of West Bengal on 14th April. The data revealed that among the patients who have approached Indira IVF’s West Bengal centres, the leading cause of infertility has been found to be male infertility, with approximately 86% of the total cases treated attributed to one of the three conditions: low to no sperm count, abnormal sperm shape, and abnormal sperm movement.

In the state of West Bengal, 13.9% of the population has been found to have infertility; this equates to about 2 million individuals in their reproductive age group in the state. Contributing factors include lifestyle changes, delayed parenthood, and environmental influences. In Kolkata alone, close to 11,500 cycles are performed in a year, of which about 20% are performed by Indira IVF alone.

Mr Nitiz Murdia – Managing Director and Co-Founder of Indira IVF, said, “Infertility is a significant challenge in West Bengal, and we are committed to making quality fertility care accessible to all those in need. Our Howrah centre has been instrumental in helping countless couples in the state realise their dream of starting a family, and we are proud to celebrate this milestone.”
