The 15th edition of the Kolkata Christmas Festival will kick off at Allen Park, Park Street, with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, inaugurating the festivities on 18th December. The Kolkata Christmas Festival was initiated by Mamata Banerjee in 2011, reflecting her commitment to promoting cultural diversity and communal harmony in the city.
Sri Indranil Sen, Hon’ble MOS (IC), Tourism Department and MOS, Information & Cultural Affairs Department, held a Press Conference on 16th December to share the details on the festival schedule.
The festival, a collaborative effort between the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Kolkata Police, Information & Cultural Affairs Department, and Apeejay Surrendra Group, will continue till December 30, 2025. The entire stretch of Park Street, Allen Park, St. Paul’s Cathedral Church, and adjoining areas will be tastefully illuminated with proper branding, creating a festive atmosphere.
The celebrations will feature a busking programme at Camac Street from December 21-23, followed by cultural programmes by the Christian Community, Kolkata Police, and the Tourism Department. The Allen Park will be closed on December 24-25, but the festivities will resume on December 26 with a programme organised by Kolkata Police.
The Tourism Department, in collaboration with the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, will present a cultural extravaganza from December 27-30, featuring renowned artists from West Bengal. A Tourism Department information kiosk, West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited stall, and first aid stall will also be set up at Allen Park.
The festivities are not limited to Kolkata, with prominent locations, including churches, in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Asansol, Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Chandannagar, Bandel, Krishnanagar, Jhargram, Purulia, Baruipur, Alipurduar, Howrah and Bidhananagar, being illuminated to spread the Christmas cheer.
