On 22nd May 2025, at Kolkata Press Club, representatives from Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) held a press meet to share details about University’s unique career oriented courses. Campus Director Shri Avinash Kharel and faculty member Smt. Ridhi Banerjee addressed the media and Pro-Vice Chancellor Shri Kalpesh H. Wandra joined them virtually. During the briefing, they highlighted the academic courses dedicated to national security that will be launched in the academic year 2025-2026.
Shri. Kalpesh H. Wandra, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University emphasized that the University is recognized as an Institution of National Importance (INI) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. As a pioneering national security and police university in India, RRU focuses on providing comprehensive academic programs, research opportunities, training, and innovations in the fields of national security and policing.
The new courses will include a range of programs such as Diploma, PG Diploma, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels across various domains including cyber security, police administration, criminology, law, forensic sciences, artificial intelligence, defense studies, international languages, sports sciences, private security, and other allied areas. This initiative aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to address contemporary challenges in national security.
He stated that the new courses aim to build skilled manpower and resources in specialized domains of security, further enhancing the national security ecosystem. This is in line with the university’s mission to provide education that caters to the needs of national security, as reported by various sources.
With its campuses located in Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Puducherry, RRU aims to provide footprints across the nation, accommodating regional demographics in security education. This expansion is expected to foster a more robust national security framework, as suggested by experts in the field.

RRU also provides training-cum-specialized skill development programs for in-service personnel from state police forces, defense forces, government sectors, and field practitioners in various security and allied domains. These programs cover areas such as policing, forensics, technological, juridical, military, diplomatic, and strategic affairs. As per the data available, RRU has organized more than 425 training programs, upskilling over 21,000 participants across the nation and globally.
The RRU Act empowers the affiliation and accreditation of training centers, certifying degrees and diplomas to newly recruited personnel. This initiative is expected to enhance the quality of training and education in the field of national security.

RRU’s current and upcoming state-of-the-art facilities, such as the Anti-Narcotics and Drugs lab, Cyber and Digital Forensics lab, Open-Source Intelligence lab, Geo-Informatics, and Human Performance lab, equip students with the latest technologies to solve the constantly changing dynamics of security threats and challenges. These facilities are designed to provide hands-on training to students, making them industry-ready.
