The Department of Posts, West Bengal Circle, inaugurated National Postal Week 2026 on October 9, coinciding with World Post Day. Observed under the global theme, “World Post Day: One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities,” the weeklong initiative emphasizes the postal network’s expanding role, technological integration, and ongoing commitment to citizen-centric service delivery.
The celebrations commenced with a major launch event at the historic Town Hall in Kolkata.

A major highlight of the inaugural program was the official release of a Special Cover titled “Durga Puja – Intangible Cultural Heritage”. The event also featured “Philately on the Runway,” an innovative inter-school fashion show showcasing stamp-inspired costume designs, and an award ceremony honoring the Circle winners of the UPU International Letter Writing Competition for Young People 2026.
