The 12th International Photographic Conference organized by the Photographic Association of Dum Dum (PAD) in collaboration with the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM), a constituent unit of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, was inaugurated on 23rd of January by FIAP Secretary General Mr. Ioannis Lykouris after the Conference Initiation by Mr. Subhabrata Chaudhuri, Director, BITM.
The conference was held during 23rd-27th January at the BITM auditorium.
The main objective of the 12th International Photographic Conference was to exchange views and ideas to supplement knowledge and promote international fraternity through the medium of photography.
The Conference apart from reading papers, included lectures and discussions on various aspects of photography broadly divided into six groups viz. Scientific & Technical, Digital, Cinematography, Pictorial, Press & Communication and General. In addition, a National Workshop on Photography was conducted from 21st to 23rd morning.
The International & National Bodies of Photography & leading photographers of many countries, Govt. Departments, Scientific Institutions and various other organisations connected with photography were invited to attend the conference and also to contribute papers and deliver lectures. Around 150 delegates both from India and abroad participated in this Conference.
A heighlight of the conference was an exhibition of photography including some invited prints from eminent artists of the world and on Astrophotography.
