As part of its regular activities, All India Legal Aid Forum (AILAF) gives felicitation to former Judges of Supreme Court and High Courts to acknowledge their great services to the nation. On 14th July at Delhi Constitution Club, AILAF felicitated the Former Judges of the Supreme Court of India, namely, Hon’ble Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Hon’ble Justice M. R. Shah and Hon’ble Justice Prakash Srivastava, the Former Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.
AILIF also felicitated Dr. Adish Chandra Agarwala, the newly elected President of Supreme Court Bar Association; Mr. Sukumar Pattjoshi, the newly elected Vice President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and Mr. Rohit Pandey, the newly elected Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
Hon’ble Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, Former Chief Justice of India, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Hon’ble Justice Gyan Sudha Misra, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India and Hon’ble Justice Indira Banerjee, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India also were present as Special Guests. Many advocates, diplomats and respected dignitaries from other fields also attended this felicitation event.
Mr. Joydeep Mukherjee, Advocate, Supreme Court of India and the General Secretary, All India Legal Aid Forum, welcomed the former Judges of the Supreme Court and High Court and the newly elected President, Vice President and Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association. Mr Mukherjee said, “It is our duty to give respect and felicitate the former Judges of the Supreme Court and the other High Courts for rendering their service to the nation and the State”.
Every Speaker of this programme emphasised the need of cordial relation between the Bar and Bench for proper functioning of justice delivery system of the country.
All India Legal Aid Forum extends free legal services to the people of lower socio-economic strata. Under the leadership of Mr. Joydeep Mukherjee, the organization undertakes different activities involving Judges and Advocates to sensitize people about their right to justice and human rights.
