Biplab Chattopadhyay’s Biography Launched By Deep Prakashan

‘Ami Biplab’, a biography that narrates the journey of veteran theatre and film actor, Shri Biplab Chattopadhyay and written by eminent author and journalist, Shri Suman Gupta was launched in Kolkata on 8 February by Shri Prosenjit Chattopadhyay, Shri Sandip Ray & Shri Subhasish Mukhopadhyay. The book has been published from Deep Prakashan. Veteran journalist Shri Gautam Bhattacharya and Shri Diptangshu Mandal, owner of Deep Prakashan also were present.

The book captures the septuagenarian artiste’s many memorable and untold moments which will make it an interesting read. The book also contains some rare photographs of Shri Chatterjee’s early days and his cinematic journey.. “Ami Biplab is a very frank, sincere and explosive biography of one of the most talented actors of the Bengali Theatre & Cinema world, Shri Biplab Chattopadhyay. He has perfectly balanced his work in between both art house and parallel cinema and enthralled the audience for over five decades”, said Shri Diptangshu Mandal, Proprietor, Deep Prokashan.

“I have fond memories with Biplap Da. A certain period of bengali cinema can’t be remembered without mentioning him. He is like a gurdian for the industry”, said actor Shri Prosenjit Chattopadhyay.

“I can remember the shooting days of my father Satyajit Ray’s film ‘Pratidwandi’. Biplab da is very close to our from that time”, said veteran film maker Shri Sandip Ray.

“I am greatly indebted to Biplab da. He helped me a lot during initial days of my career”, said actor Shri Subhasish Mukhopadhyay.

“I know Biplab Chattopadhyay since his early days and in somewhat is well acquitted with his movies and the roles he played. While narrating the story of his life, he came up with various interesting anecdotes, which have included in this book. He is one of the finest actors”, said author, Shri Suman Gupta.

Shri Biplab Chattopadhyay started his film career with Satyajit Ray’s film Pratidwandi. He has acted over 150 films and is popular primarily for his antagonistic characters in Bengali films. Apart from his career in films, he has also shown interest in socio-political activities. In 1998, he was a condidate for assembly election from Rashbehari constituency and in 2006 from Alipore constituency.

Aami Biplab, published by Deep Prakashan and priced at Rs 450/-, will be available across retail book shops and various online platforms.
