On 20th January, the Bengal Christian Council (BCC) is going to organize a Peace & Unity Rally 2025, a significant event aimed at promoting peace, harmony, and unity among the people of West Bengal. The rally will start at 1pm from St. Paul’s Cathedral and will end at Gandhi Statue.
The BCC gratefully acknowledges the proactive and vigilant role played by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Smt. Mamata Bandopadhyay, in upholding the centuries-old ethos and traditions of Bengal. Her efforts to promote unity in diversity and harmonious coexistence among people of all castes, creeds, and religions are truly commendable.
The BCC humbly requests the Chief Minister to look into the severe challenges faced by Christian missionary schools in West Bengal. Despite being granted minority status, these institutions face difficulties in obtaining approvals for teaching and non-teaching staff, and are deprived of uniform grants. The BCC seeks the Chief Minister’s intervention to address these issues and ensure a peaceful environment for these institutions to function smoothly.
The BCC emphasizes the importance of quality education and heritage preservation in West Bengal. Christian missionary schools have been providing quality education to all sections of society for centuries, and the BCC seeks the government’s support in preserving the heritage of these institutions.
The BCC cautions the Christian community and government authorities against self-styled bishops who are misguiding people with their dubious activities and speeches. The BCC does not recognize such individuals and urges everyone to be vigilant.
In a press meet at Bishop House on 17th January, Rt. Rev. Dr. Paritosh Canning, Bishop of Calcutta, CNI and President, Bengal Christian Council shared details about the rally and has invited all peace-loving citizens of West Bengal to join the Peace & Unity Rally for promoting harmony, unity, and peace in our state.
