Onu Chhobi Welfare Association, an active film organization of Kolkata, has funded it’s first ever short film “Beyond The Darkness”. This mobile short film has been directed by Debasis Biswas from Jalpaiguri. Debasis was the winner of Kolkata International Short Festival 2022 award in the category of Mobile Film Making.
The story of “Beyond The Darkness” has been written by Paulami Deb. She was also the winner of 2022 Festival Award in film story writing category. The story is part the short film stories collection ‘Baisher Bioscope’, a more than five hundred pages volume of filmable stories selected through a competition in Kolkata International Short Festival.
The festival is a flagship event organized by the association every year. Till date they have organized four festivals. Noted musician Kalyan Sen Barat is one of the winners of awards in this festival.
Making of ‘Beyond The Darkness’ opens up an unique opportunity to the aspiring short film makers who often face difficulties to get financial support and access to other resources to showcase their works to the world.
“From our love and passion for films, we took this initiative to help film makers realise their dream of making a quality short film”, said Mr Nilanjan Bhowmik, founder of Onu Chhobi Welfare Association.
Film lovers can watch the premiere show of ‘Beyond The Darkness’ on 23 January. The film will be streamed on the official facebook page of Kolkata International Short Festival.
