Diocese Of Calcutta to Revive Mary Cooper Home

The Rt. Revd. Dr. Paritosh Canning, Bishop of Calcutta, in a press conference on 30th March shared a detail plan to revive the ‘Mary Cooper Home’, an old age home at Khidderpore area. He said this is one more of his dream projects. ‘Mary Cooper Home’, a Diocese property by record, was not under it’s management for over 75 years.

The Rt. Revd Dr. Paritosh Canning, Bishop of Calcutta, is known to all as a visionary Bishop with outstanding Anglican background and he is also a well-known social activist. He is responsible for opening up the Diocese to the outside world through his outreach work. He had reclaimed the home back to the Diocese of Calcutta.

Mary Cooper Home is situated at 4/2 Diamond Harbour Road Kolkata 700 023. With the intervention of Bishop Dr. Canning the Old Age Home will be now equipped with all modern amenities for the comfortable stay of the inmates: It belongs to the Calcutta Diocesan Trust Association (Pvt.) under the Diocese of Calcutta

The Bishop also informed, from 1 April, 2023 the Home will be run and managed by the Diocese of Calcutta. The has capacity for twenty inmates.

“At present 11 residents are staying there. Nine more inmates can stay there. We will charge a reasonable fee which will include all expenses”, said Dr. Canning.

This home makes sure that the senior citizens get the basic care and facilities needed during the twilight phase of their lives, In addition to healthy and hygienic meals, the home will also arrange a lot of activities so that they don’t get lonely. Mary Cooper Home is one of the best place for the aged.
