Rotary International is one of the oldest and largest Service Organisation in the world. Currently, there are more than 220 countries where Rotary is present, with around 38,000 clubs and 12 lakh members.
Rotarians are engaged to Bring Peace in the World by Creating Hope through their Seven Areas of Focus viz : Peace Building & Conflict Prevention, Disease Prevention & Treatment, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Maternal & Child Health, Basic Education & Literacy, Community Economic Development, Environment.
Rotary also works with Young Adults through the Rotaract Clubs (membership from 18+ years), Students through Interact Clubs (membership from 12 to 18 years) and Independent Community Organisations and NGOs through Rotary Community Corps (RCC) as Partners. In Rotary International District 3291 covering 12 revenue districts of South Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, we have 153 Rotary Clubs with 4000 members and more than 300 active RCCs, mostly in rural and semi urban areas.
These RCCs are already established independent Non Government Organisations and working in their designated areas in one or more areas of focus. After careful assessment, Rotary Clubs accept them as their Partner and work hand in hand with them for providing much needed services in the local community. Rotary year starts from 1st July every year under the leadership of District Governor and is supported by several Service Committees headed by experts and leaders in their respective profession and vocation.
RCC Assembly is the formal Training and Idea Exchange program before the start of the year where guidelines and road maps are discussed with experts from Rotary and outside.
On a day long program where participants from the RCCS along with Rotarians take part, interact and share their views, thoughts and ideas on various pertinent issues. This year, under the dynamic leadership of the incoming District Governor Hira Lal Yadav, District RCC Chairman Prabhat Bhanu Mitra and others, the whole day RCC Assembly has been organized at Rotary Sadan, Kolkata on Sunday 21 st May 2023.
Speaking about the future plan Incoming District Governor Hira Lal Yadav said, “In RCC assembly we prepare a roadmap for next one year. In my tenure I will give emphasis on health, education, environment and women empowerment”.
The Rotary Clubs supports these RCCs with all their available resources, organize Training programs, Workshops, Medical & Educational Camps and Programs and work hand in hand throughout the year to alleviate the sufferings of their communities to bring joy in them.
