Joint Forum of Trade Unions in Public Sector General Insurance Companies Mock at Govt Policy

The Officers and Employees of Public Sector General Insurance Companies (PSGICs) are not happy with Government of India’s decision. The Joint Forum is very critical of the management’s decision to go ahead with the implementation of an outside consultant’s (E&Y) report at the behest of the Finance ministry officials covertly targeted to dismantle the Public sector and favor the Private sector companies.

As per Forum’s press statement, to assess the situation, the leaders of various Trade unions and Associations functioning in PSGICs met at Delhi on 22nd February under the banner of Joint Forum. The leaders travelled all the way South, East, West and North to discuss about the issues confronting the industry and the employees.

The Forum believes- the companies are losing their business in the centers where the pilot projects on KPI and restructuring are rolled out. Hasty implementation of these initiatives lack adequate planning, infrastructure and back up strategy. The management is also helpless because the entire affairs are micro managed by the Department of Financial Services on a daily basis as against Government’s avowed slogan “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance” as also “Non-interference by Bureaucracy in Sovereign Board Run PSU Companies”.

In the interest of the Public Sector General Insurance industry and customer service, Social Security and welfare of the workforce, and for the sake of the Economic System of the Nation, the all Constituent Unions and Associations of Officers & Employees, under the banner of JFTU PSGICS in total have decided to do a lunch hour demonstration on 2nd march and 16th March in all centers 2. Half day dharna on 23rd in front of all Regional centers and Head offices.

The forum also want to go for a one day strike on 29th March and intensify the struggle further, if the issues are not amicably resolved.
