National Lok Adalat Held with Great Enthusiasm in Howrah

On Saturday, a National Lok Adalat was held at the Howrah District Court, alongside courts in various other districts across the country. Proceedings took place at the Howrah District and Sessions Court complex, where 15 benches were operational, while 3 benches functioned at the Uluberia Sub-divisional Court. On this day, under the leadership of Subhash Kumar Kar, the Howrah District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, and under the direction of Arsheya Mustaq, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, all benches functioned with full enthusiasm.

Retired Judge Sadhan Kumar Mandal presided over Bench No. 10 of the Howrah District Lok Adalat. He was assisted by two other bench members. Molla Jasimuddin, a Non- Advocate-Mediator at Calcutta High Court and Legal Correspondent, was part of this bench. The Bench heard cases involving loan defaulters from Bandhan Bank and SMFG Finance.

Meanwhile, Retired Judge Asim Debnath presided over Bench No. 11. Sri Prasenjit Bhattacharya of the Howrah District Legal Services Authority stated that cases concerning traffic violations, money suits, title suits, banking matters, GR (General Register) cases, and electricity disputes were resolved. Additionally, Smt. Manali Samanta presided over a bench at the District Legal Services Authority office. Sahana Khatun, an official from the Legal Services Authority, noted, “We have engaged distinguished individuals from various walks of life as Bench Members.”
