NR Narayana Murthy Delivered Convocation Speech at Convocation Ceremony of Techno India University

Techno India University held its 2023 Convocation Ceremony on 10th August. In this convocation Techno India University awarded 4,500 students their undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees, including students who completed their degrees during the Covid pandemic time.

The Convocation took place at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre where Shri. N. R. Narayana Murthy graced the occasion as Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Speech.

On this day, Shri. Sourav Ganguly was awarded a Doctor of Letters degree for his extraordinary contribution to Indian Sports. Shri. Ratan N. Tata accepted a Doctor of Letters degree in absentia for his exemplary career as an Indian Industrialist and Philanthropist. In the field of Indian Music, Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam was bestowed a Doctor of Letters degree for her trailblazing efforts. Miss Sushmita Sen received a Doctor of Letters degree for her contributions to Indian Culture and her inspiring work for the development of women and children’s education. Shri. Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay was honoured with a Doctor of Letters degree for his immortal contributions to Bengali literature while

Dr. Apurba Ghosh received a Doctor of Letters degree for his immense contributions to Children’s Healthcare especially during the Covid crisis. Dr. Tessy Thomas was also bestowed a Doctor of Letters degree by Techno India University for her role in furthering India’s mastery of aeronautical systems through her pioneering work with the DRDO.

Also present on this august occasion from Techno India University was Co-Chancellor Smt. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Managing Director Shri. Satyam Roychowdhury, Vice Chancellor Dr. Goutam Sengupta, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Samiran Chattopadhyay (ex JU). Registrar Prof. Mohit Chatterjee, Prof. Somprakash Bandopadhyay (Director, School of Management), Prof. Bidyut Baran Chaudhuri (ex-Prof. ISI), Dean of Research Prof. Amar Nath Mallick (ex-NIT, DGP) and all the principals of the colleges under the Techno India Group. Eminent personalities present on the dais included L Subramaniam (Pre- Eminent Violinist and Composer), Prof. Uday Bandyopadhyay (Director, Bose Institute), Prof. Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay (Director, ISI, Kolkata), Prof. Arvind Choubey (Director, NIT, Durgapur), Shri. Debashis Sen (Chairman, HIDCO) and Shri. Debidas Datta (Former Director, WBSEDCL). The presence of Major General H Dharmarajan, GOC HQ Bengal Sub Area, Kolkata, Shri. Abhijit Dasgupta, Commandant, Coast Guard, RHQ and Commodore P Sasi Kumar, Naval Officer-in-Charge West Bengal on the dais helped to instil a sense of discipline and respect for the country amongst the students.

During interaction with the media Mr. Goutam Roy Chowdhury, Chancellor of Techno India University, said, “This convocation has been graced by N. R. Narayana Murthy. Singer Kavita Krishnamurthy also has come. Mr. Ratan Tata has sent his best wishes and other dignitaries too. We are overwhelmed”.

Techno India University believes in imparting a holistic education to future generations and emphasizes the importance of etiquette, discipline and challenging students to take responsibility of their communities, society and the nation. Keeping this in mind, at the Convocation Ceremony university rank holders and gold medallists received their awards from their parents on stage in front of their professors. Degree certificates were handed over to students by the teachers. This unique initiative was undertaken to create a particular emotion in the minds of the students which shall remain with them all their lives.
