Ruby General Hospital opens first Digital PET CT in Kolkata

After a fullfilling journey of three decades, Ruby General Hospital is looking forward to a better and brighter future, while, consistently focusing on expanding and enhancing its services to facilitate and serve the community.
In a groundbreaking development for Eastern India, Ruby Cancer Center, a unit of Ruby General Hospital has already introduced the Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator, Version 3.0 with most user friendly and advanced contouring system and Eclipse version 18 planning system. This is the first of its kind in Eastern India and we have a dedicated CT simulator along with this radiation machine for faster treatment. This technology has revolutionized cancer treatment by providing precise and effective care.

On 11th September, Ruby General Hospital officially inaugurated the first Digital PET CT in Kolkata. With unique features and specifications this will reduce the time of PET CT from 30 minutes to 5 minutes with the patient receiving only one – third of the dose of radiation. It will also give enhanced picture clarity. The biggest advantage of Digital PET CT is that it can detect the smallest tumours which are missed by analog PET CT. Tumours around 2.9 mm will be picked up while, the best analog PET CT can pick up tumour sized above 4.3 mm. This will save many lives through early detection and lessen the suffering of patients.
